I've Got a Bucket Full of Sunshine (by Chloe Casselberry)

A short story about my last trip to the hospital with my son, Haven (I love you buddy.)

March 24, 2010:
Riding on the 2nd of 3 amulances on our way to fly to Sacramento on a "life flight" from Redding, CA. Fighting against anxiety & a little overwhelmed to be back in the hospital again, without my husband's strong faith beside me, a little alone, and talking myself into courage, I needed some strength. We had just checked out of ICU in Redding & were headed for a more specialized children's hospital. I was listening for a reminder that Holy Spirit is with me... On This particular ride, they made me sit in the front... & this song came on the radio...

"I've got a bucket full of sunshine,
Take me away, to the secret place,
Take me away"

As the song ended, we pulled up to the small plane to load up for our flight to Sacramento. I found out that the flight nurse was from our church & asked him if he prays for healing for people as he does these transports. Yes. He believes.

With that we loaded up for take off. As we assended into the sky I began to sing over Haven a song of praise to God. As we lifted into a beautiful morning sky, the sun was shining brightly & the sky was glorious (something I have miss dearly during my long stays in the hospital where I rarely get to feel the sun & wind on my face.)
Haven was soon deep asleep with the roar of the engines, & I just thanked God for the moments of peace & beauty & hope He was giving me.
I was stirring my spirit up to courage for the onslaught of doctors & nurses & "news" that I was about to face... Alone... But not alone.
In that moment the Holy Spirit kissed me with courage & peace & nearness. And I was taken away... To that secret place with Him & filled with His Sunshine that defys the circumstances. And for this sunshine I am eternally grateful!
